Internal Regulation

SÜLEYMAN DEMİREL UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF MEDICINE — UNDERGRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION BOARD WORKING PRINCIPLES

1. Purpose and Scope

1.1. The purpose of these principles is to regulate the structure of the SDU Undergraduate Medical Education Board (SDUTF-MÖTEK) and the duties, working procedures, and cooperation principles of this Board regarding the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of the undergraduate education-training programs of SDU Faculty of Medicine (SDUTF).

2. Structure

2.1. SDUTF-MÖTEK consists of the Dean, vice deans, the chief coordinator, deputy chief coordinators, year coordinators and their deputies, the Head of the Department of Medical Education, the Chair of the Assessment and Evaluation Board, and the student representative of each class.

2.2. When necessary, clerkship education supervisors, course committee chairs and/or members also attend.

2.3. The Dean is the natural chair; when the Dean does not attend, the Chief Coordinator presides.

2.4. Secretarial services are carried out by the Education-Training Chief Coordinatorship secretariat.

3. Operation and Duties

3.1. SDUTF-MÖTEK is responsible for the general planning of education, teaching and examinations each year in line with departments' opinions, standardizing examinations, and ensuring coordination, horizontal/vertical integration, and compliance with the national core education program.

3.2. The Board meets once a month with representation of all year coordinatorships. Decisions are taken by absolute majority; in a tie, the chair's vote counts twice. Minutes are submitted to the Dean's Office.

3.3–3.12. It determines the academic calendar; examines success reports; carries out annual evaluations; proposes program changes when compulsory; advises on quality improvements, teaching tools and infrastructure, regulations and directives; forwards information on students with problems; and, with the Assessment and Evaluation Board, checks achievement of learning objectives and determines new methods, forwarding all to the Dean's Office.

4. Chief Coordinator and Deputies

4.1. The Chief Coordinator is appointed for 3 years by the Faculty Executive Board from among Professors nominated by the Dean. 4.2. The Chief Coordinator proposes two deputies, appointed with the Dean's approval. 4.3–4.4. Together with course committee chairs/clerkship supervisors they oversee integrity and integration and ensure examinations run without disruption.

5. Coordinators and Deputies

5.1. Coordinators are appointed for 3 years by the Dean upon the Chief Coordinator's proposal. 5.2–5.10. Each coordinator proposes up to two deputies; they prepare the year's academic calendar; ensure orderly execution and integration; review attendance; (Years 1–3) administer committee examinations and question analyses with the Assessment and Evaluation Board; assist students; conduct student-representative elections; and conduct course-committee/clerkship evaluation surveys.

6. Course Committees (Years 1-2-3)

6.1–6.5. Chairs and members are determined by the relevant coordinatorship each year; consist of 5 faculty from the departments with the most teaching hours; review objectives and schedules; share exam questions and answers; and evaluate the committee based on student feedback.

7. Clerkship Education Supervisors (Years 4-5-6)

7.1–7.5. Determined by the relevant department; set clerkship objectives and outcomes with the department; responsible for orderly execution; ensure attendance; and evaluate each clerkship based on student feedback.

8. Entry into Force

8.1. Enters into force as of the date approved by the SDUTF Faculty Board, which may revise it.

9. Execution

9.1. The Dean of SDU Faculty of Medicine is responsible.
