Internal Regulation
SÜLEYMAN DEMİREL UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF MEDICINE — POSTGRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION BOARD WORKING PRINCIPLES
1. Purpose
To regulate the establishment and duties of the Postgraduate Medical Education Board, established to plan, implement, monitor and develop the activities needed by specialist/subspecialty trainees in the departments of SDU Faculty of Medicine; ensure their participation in scientific research; monitor training via the resident's logbook; and ensure the thesis process and specialty examinations comply with the Regulation on Specialty Training in Medicine and Dentistry.
2. Scope
Covers regulations relating to specialist/subspecialty training at SDU Faculty of Medicine.
3. Basis
Prepared taking into account the Regulation on Specialty Training in Medicine and Dentistry (Decision No. 2014/6041), Official Gazette dated 26 April 2014, No. 28953.
4. Definitions
Ministry: Ministry of Health; Faculty: SDU Faculty of Medicine; Dean; Board; Chair.
5. Establishment
a) 9 members: a chair appointed by the Dean; 2 members each from Basic, Surgical and Internal Medical Sciences; the Education-Training Chief Coordinator; and 1 from Medical Education. A deputy chair is selected from among the chair's nominees. The resident representative may attend as a non-voting guest. b) Department/division chairs are natural advisory members. c) Meets at least once every two months with absolute majority; decisions by absolute majority. d) Members are appointed for 3 years.
6. Duties
a) determine specialist training objectives; b) establish minimum conditions to increase knowledge/skills; c) determine the resident's logbook form/scope/use and keep programs up to date; ç) advise on examinations during training; d) organize courses/seminars/conferences and publications, provide distance education, and explain residents' rights/duties; e) advise on thesis writing rules; f) represent the Faculty, follow regulations, support accreditation; g) identify and remedy problems; h) encourage and improve research; ı) carry out other duties from the Dean's Office.
7. Entry into Force
Enters into force on the date accepted by the Faculty Board.
8. Execution
Executed by the Dean of SDU Faculty of Medicine.
