The Department of Radiology was established in 1995 under the chairmanship of Asst. Assoc. Dr. Meltem Uzundurukan Çetin. A conventional x-ray and a grayscale ultrasonography device were put into service in the basement of the former Chest Diseases Hospital. With the purchase of a spiral CT device and a mammography device in the device park in 1998 and the addition of a second conventional X-ray device, which was later put into use, the imaging needs of our hospital were met to a large extent.
In January 2001, our department was moved to the new hospital building, which is still in service. With the transition to the new building, the number of devices and faculty members has increased, and our clinic has served not only Isparta but also the region. In 2008, CT angiography examinations were initiated with the purchase of a multislice CT device. The angiography device (DSA) installed at the same time as the CT device enabled vascular and nonvascular interventional procedures.
Our radiology department is a unit that regularly serves both outpatients and inpatients. In our clinic, there are four digital x-rays, four portable x-rays, one digital fluoroscopy, one mammography, one Multislice Computed Tomography, one 1.5T Magnetic Resonance (MR), six Ultrasonography (USG)-Doppler, and one Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) device. In addition to daily work, 24-hour emergency imaging service is provided, and emergency interventional procedures are also performed. The faculty members of our department provide education and training within the scope of pre-graduation education to the third and fifth grade students of the Faculty of Medicine. Our department also provides a residency programme within the scope of post-graduation education.
