Authority, Duties and Responsibilities
Dean
Appointment
The Dean, who represents the Faculty and its units, is selected and appointed for three years by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) from among three professors — from within or outside the university — nominated by the Rector. A Dean whose term has ended may be reappointed. The Dean selects at most two vice deans from among salaried faculty members. Vice deans are appointed for at most three years; the Dean may replace them when necessary; when the Dean's term ends, the vice deans' terms end as well. When the Dean is not on duty, one of the vice deans acts on the Dean's behalf; if this acting period exceeds six months, a new Dean is appointed.
