Suleyman Demirel University, Medical Microbiology Department has been established by Assistant Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Aydemir in 1993. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Arda, Assistant Prof. Dr. Birdal Yorgancıgil have served as Directors of Medical Microbiology Department, respectively. Prof. Dr. Buket Cicioglu Aridogan is still the Director of Medical Microbiology Department. The faculty of Medical Microbiology Department serves for the Medical Microbiology education of the students of Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Dentistry and Research Assistants’postgraduate residency programs, patient services and scientific research studies are also being conducted in our department. One Prof. Dr., one Associate Prof. Dr., two Assistant Prof. Dr., two Research Assistant Dr., nine Laboratory Technicians study in Our Department.

SECTIONS OF MEDICAL MICROBIOLOGY LABORATORY
Our Department serves with the Bacteriology Laboratory(Bacteria- Fungus Culture and Mycobacteria Laboratory), Parasitology Laboratory, Serology Laboratory, molecular diagnostic laboratory and Flow Cytometry Laboratory. Our laboratory offers annual average 40 thousand cultures(bacteria, fungi), 3 thousand parasites wievs, 150 thousand serologic tests,and 2500 flow cytometry tests .
