Training on Infection Control and Patient Safety Provided to Intern Physicians Within the Framework of Science Communication Activities

Within the scope of science communication activities planned by Suleyman Demirel University Faculty of Medicine in coordination with our University's Science Communication Office, an educational event titled "First Steps in Medicine: Safety First – Infection Control and Patient Safety Information: Hand Hygiene and Sharps Injuries" was held for intern physicians.
At the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Esra NURLU TEMEL, a faculty member from the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology of the Faculty of Medicine, provided comprehensive information to our Faculty's intern physicians on infection control and patient safety.
The training covered the critical importance of hand hygiene in preventing infections in healthcare settings, hand hygiene practices recommended by the World Health Organization, protective approaches to prevent sharps injuries to which healthcare workers may be exposed, and the processes to be followed following potential injuries. Additionally, the importance of standard infection control measures in ensuring patient and worker safety was emphasized.
The event, aimed at increasing professional awareness among intern physicians taking their first steps in the medical profession and providing safe working habits, enabled participants to gain important practical knowledge in accordance with current scientific information.
Suleyman Demirel University Faculty of Medicine will continue to conduct educational activities and science communication events aimed at strengthening the professional knowledge and skills of future physicians.
