Special Training Program for Young Athletes Successfully Completed

On November 14, 2024, hosted by the Deanery of Suleyman Demirel University Faculty of Medicine and organized by the Department of Sports Medicine, a training program covering injury prevention, first aid, and healthy nutrition for young athletes aged 10-17 was held. In line with our University's goal of being a sports-friendly campus, the program aimed to provide social contribution by ensuring children develop more safely and healthily in sports, along with topics such as disease prevention and basic first aid training, as well as the importance of regular nutrition for athlete health.

The program was prepared by third-year medical students under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sabriye ERCAN, Head of the Department of Sports Medicine, within the scope of a project application course. In the program moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sabriye ERCAN, Res. Assist. Dr. Ramazan Kürşat ERDAŞ, and Dr. Fatih Uğur TAŞ, detailed information was provided to children on preventing possible injuries during sports, the basic rules of first aid, what athletes can do in case of injury, and healthy nutrition.

The event began with a presentation titled "Protecting Tomorrow's Champions from Sports Injuries" by third-year medical student Aslıhan Ece ŞEKER and continued with a presentation titled "Conscious First Aid for Tomorrow's Champions" by third-year medical student Raziyenur ÇELİK. Finally, third-year medical student Nur Eldem AYDIN explained the topic "Nutrition for Healthy Development" to young athletes. In the interactively conducted program, questions from tomorrow's champions were also answered. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to perform practical applications and reinforce this knowledge.

Dean of SDÜ Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Nilgün ŞENOL stated that such events would continue and that programs focused on movement and healthy lifestyle would be increased within the university. The program ended with Prof. Dr. Nilgün ŞENOL presenting participation certificates to the participants.
