"Near-Miss Event Form" Has Been Added to the Document Archive
Near-Miss Event: An event that occurs in the workplace that could have caused harm to an employee, workplace, or work equipment but did not cause harm is defined as a near-miss event.
In our daily life, events we describe with words such as "by a hair's breadth," "almost," and "nearly" are actually defined as near-miss events. For example, a chemical splashing in your eye while using chemical materials in the workplace is a work accident, but an event described as "a chemical almost splashed in my eye" is a near-miss event. Near-miss events should be evaluated as precursors of workplace accidents, and necessary precautions should be taken in accordance with near-miss event reports.
