BAP-Supported Undergraduate Student Research Project Conducted at Our Faculty.

Emrecan ULUDAĞ, currently a Research Assistant in the Psychiatry Department at Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine, conducted a research study aimed at identifying triggering dietary factors in migraine patients within the scope of the Undergraduate Student Research Project that he benefited from while a 5th-year student at our Faculty. This study, which was conducted with the participation of Res. Assist. Dr. Özge TÜRK in the Neurology Department of our Faculty at the time of research, was carried out under the guidance of his advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nihat ŞENGEZE and was supported by the Süleyman Demirel University Scientific Research Projects (BAP) Coordination Unit within the framework of the Undergraduate Student Research Project.

In the study, the effects of restricted diet programs from cheese, caffeine, and chocolate on the severity, duration, and frequency of migraine attacks were examined. The results revealed that these diets led to a reduction in the duration, severity, and frequency of migraine attacks. These findings demonstrated that dietary modifications can play an important role in improving the quality of life of migraine patients.

The study was published in the İzmir Faculty of Medicine Journal. Emrecan Uludağ's participation in such a project during his undergraduate years was of great importance in terms of developing his research skills and receiving education on scientific methods. This experience made a significant contribution to ULUDAĞ's academic career.

The Süleyman Demirel University Scientific Research Projects (BAP) Coordination Unit supports projects for undergraduate students every year. Students should regularly follow university announcements to learn about and apply for such projects. These projects provide important opportunities for students to develop their research skills and gain experience in the scientific field.
