A Visit from Our Faculty to TUMS
Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) was visited by our Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Alim Koşar, Deputy Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanat Gülle, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Fuat İnce, Head of the Department of Medical History and Ethics at our Faculty and Mevlana Coordinator.
In the visit to TUMS, with which a Mevlana agreement and a Bilateral Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) have been signed, it was agreed to work on increasing mutual cooperation, student and faculty exchange, internship opportunities for students, summer schools, short-term training programs, project writing with partner universities, laying the groundwork for KA171 projects, making joint publications, and dual degree programs, in accordance with the agreements.
First, the visit was made to the Museum of History of Medicine (TUMS-Museum of History of Medicine), which contains original handwritten medical books and numerous historical materials. Here, detailed information about the museum and the artifacts in the museum was provided by Museum Expert Fatemeh Ahmadi and International Relations Coordinator Dr. Arman Zargaran.

Then, a visit was made to the School of Persian Medicine, one of the two medical schools within TUMS. Here, Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Roja Rahimi and Deputy Dean Assist. Prof. Dr. Roodabeh Bahramsultani provided information about the faculty and both its educational and scientific activities. Laboratories, libraries, classrooms, research units, and social facilities belonging to the Department of Persian Medicine, the Department of Traditional and Complementary Medicine, and the Department of Medical History were visited on site.

In the visit to the School of Medicine at Tehran (School of Medicine), Iran's first modern medical school, information was provided by Dean Prof. Dr. Mohammad Taghi Beigmohammadi and Deputy Deans Prof. Dr. Mohammad Reza Keramati, Prof. Dr. Seyed Hasan Inanloo, and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Reza Salehi. Within TUMS, there are 14 hospitals, which are the largest and best-equipped health institutions in the country. Two of these hospitals specialize in pediatric health and diseases, two in obstetrics and gynecology, and one in cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. In addition, 12 research centers and institutes are affiliated with the School of Medicine at Tehran and continue their activities.
Following the briefing, old and newly constructed hospital buildings and campuses were toured. Administrative units, lecture halls, laboratories, hybrid operating rooms, and the Department of Urology as a model service were visited.

Following the School of Medicine at Tehran and the Faculty Central Hospital, a visit was made to the Institute of Advanced Medical Technologies. Here, information was provided by Institute Director Prof. Dr. Sayid Sarkar and his team, as well as by company representatives developing and manufacturing medical devices and systems. Presentations and demonstrations were conducted at the center where domestically produced devices and systems were displayed.
Following the Institute of Advanced Medical Technologies, Department of Medical Education faculty members Assist. Prof. Dr. Maryam Alizadeh and Assist. Prof. Dr. Roghayeh Gandomkar provided information at the Dean's Building about medical education and graduate education programs implemented in their country and international collaborations.
Regarding telemedicine applications and projects implemented by TUMS, a detailed presentation was made by Assist. Prof. Dr. Ardalan Shairat.
In the visit to the Department of Medical History Building and campus, Department of Medical History faculty members Assist. Prof. Dr. Arman Zargaran and Assist. Prof. Dr. Roodabeh Bahramsoltani and their doctoral students provided information about the activities carried out by the Department and international events and projects implemented. In the Medical History Library located in the Department of Medical History Building, information about valuable books and other documents was provided by Department of Medical History Secretary and historian Ali Vatanperest.
The visit concluded with an evaluation meeting held at the Rector's Building and the reception by Assistant Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammed H. Ayati.
