A Study on Addiction Prevalence Across Isparta Was Presented at the Provincial Administration

At the 3rd Provincial Coordination Council Meeting on Fighting Addiction in 2025, held at the Isparta Provincial Administration under the Chairmanship of Governor Abdullah Erin; the results of a scientific study conducted across Isparta measuring the level of addiction were shared with participants by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adnan Karaibrahimoğlu, faculty member of the Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics of our Faculty.

As a result of the survey study conducted with the support of Isparta Provincial Administration's Center for Fighting Addiction and Coordination (BAMKOM), Süleyman Demirel University, and public institutions; it was determined that Isparta is not first in Turkey in terms of the usage rate of any type of addictive substances. According to the data, this rate came out below Turkey's average of 2.6%.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adnan Karaibrahimoğlu, who conducted the survey study, noted the following:

"Together with our colleagues from our University's Faculty of Medicine, we conducted a study to apply the ASIST scale developed by the World Health Organization with a very large sample size in scientific terms.

With our samples prepared in a quite cross-sectional manner and according to completely scientific methods, we completed our study with approximately 7,200 participants. As a result, while Turkey's average is 2.6%; we obtained a lower usage frequency approaching the average across Isparta. This demonstrates that our study is valid and reliable.

We have scientifically demonstrated the results for all of Isparta with a large sample. Thus, we have proven that Isparta has never reached the values claimed by some circles and not supported by the data.

Our Isparta's substance addiction and usage frequency is well below Turkey's average. I would especially like to emphasize this."
