A New Health Awareness Training on the Theme of "Communicable Diseases" Was Held at the School of Health Sciences

A Health Awareness Training titled "Are You Safe Regarding Communicable Diseases?" was held at the Conference Hall of Suleyman Demirel University (SDÜ) School of Health Sciences on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at 14:00. The event, attended by a total of 217 students, aimed to increase students' knowledge level regarding communicable diseases and to provide them with a multidisciplinary perspective on the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, transmission dynamics, and prevention strategies of these diseases.

 

Prof. Dr. Ersin USKUN, a faculty member of the Department of Public Health who gave the opening speech, evaluated the impact of communicable diseases on morbidity and mortality at the global and national levels with epidemiological data. He also drew attention to the sociocultural and economic dimensions of these diseases and emphasized their importance from the perspective of public health.

Within the scope of the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Esra NURLU TEMEL from the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology and Prof. Dr. Selma KORKMAZ from the Department of Dermatology and Venereology presented comprehensive presentations on the pathogenesis, diagnostic methods, treatment protocols, and preventive medicine applications of important communicable diseases such as HIV/AIDS, HPV, Hepatitis B and C.

In the question-and-answer session, topics were discussed in detail with the active and interactive participation of the attendees. At the end of the program, digital participation certificates were provided to the students to contribute to their academic and professional development.

Through the ongoing events of SDÜ Health Awareness Training, it is aimed to strengthen students' theoretical knowledge with practice-based approaches and to develop their awareness level regarding the protection of public health.
