Süleyman Demirel University Project Office Activity Report.
At the "I. Project and Science Days" event that began on 16.05.2024, the Faculty of Medicine Project Office, which began operations at the beginning of 2024 within the Faculty of Medicine Deanship of Süleyman Demirel University, received 27 poster presentations and 22 oral presentation recordings. In the evaluation of all these projects by referees, keeping records, and printing procedures, the coordination unit was the project office. Additionally, invited speakers from outside the city informed students about the importance of interdisciplinary studies and what could be done in collaboration with the engineering science field in such studies. Thus, undergraduate students, graduate and doctoral students, and faculty members had the opportunity to learn about current developments and trends in the health field, while also gaining information about the benefits that project activities starting at the undergraduate level would provide to researchers throughout their careers.
After the Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Medicine Project Office began operations, 7 TÜSEB-B, 1 1002, 9 BAP thesis, and 8 ABP project applications were submitted. Additionally, 2 patent and 7 utility model applications have been submitted by faculty members and staff of our Faculty. Three of these have been registered and the others are pending. The registration of intellectual property rights for the scientific activities of SDÜ Faculty of Medicine researchers means that these activities provide economic benefits to both the university and the researchers. The project office has begun accelerating these activities with increasing momentum.
The applications listed below demonstrate trends that will guide researchers:
1-DEVICE FOR OPENING AND CONTROLLING THE BLOOD-BRAIN BARRIER
The invention is a device with a head-body structure that opens and controls the blood-brain barrier, and is a device intended for use in treatments related to electric fields, particularly in serious diseases such as brain tumors or more commonly encountered diseases such as meningitis, and can be used for any drug that needs to pass the blood-brain barrier, can be used in any disease, provides the advantage of not affecting other organs due to local application, and avoids temperature increase in the applied area, and relates to a device.
2-PRESSURE WOUND CARE, TREATMENT AND PREVENTION DEVICE
A device that can be used fixed at or separately from the patient's head in bedridden patients, for use in patients with pressure wounds or in bedridden patients prone to such wounds, eliminating the need to move the patient for dressing or treatment, providing interaction with only the target wound tissue without touching the patient or causing heat increase, capable of routine application by providing pulsed electric field, containing a fixed plate, a metal electrode and a control unit, preferably made of wood and/or PVC plastic and positioned in the bed frame, providing pulsed electric field between the reference electrode and active electrode in parallel to the patient to manage, prevent or treat wounds.
3-ORGAN BATH MACHINE
The invention is a bath machine designed to ensure that organs, particularly tissue structures, are cleaned, maintained, and controlled without damaging their vital functions, and consists of a liquid heating chamber to provide heating of liquids necessary for tissues, a liquid drainage channel to ensure that in case of any reason, if liquid seeps into the cluster structure where the tissue is located, the liquid is drained before the tissue loses its vital functions and is returned to the liquid heating reservoir, a liquid transfer channel to ensure that the liquid prepared according to the type, kind, and characteristics of the tissue is delivered to the tissue to maintain the tissue's vital functions located in the solution reservoir, and a control unit.
4-FLOW ENHANCER DEVICE
The invention relates to a Flow Enhancer device consisting of applicators, a feeding socket, and a belt section, which can be applied to the abdominal area and is used in cases where the blood supply (nutrition) between mother and fetus is insufficient or in cases of uteroplacental insufficiency due to preeclampsia that may occur during pregnancy, to continue development without medication, provide non-drug treatment alternatives, and prevent and treat preeclampsia by utilizing the vasodilatory effects of radiofrequency (RF) and pulsed magnetic field (PMF).
5- A COLD PROCESSING APPARATUS
The invention relates to a cold processing apparatus developed for storing tissue portions obtained from animals during animal experiments and keeping the tissues separate from each other and during transportation, and for transporting and protecting blood and similar fluid materials taken from animals, assisting in providing standardization in experiments. The cold processing apparatus according to the invention is for animal experiment studies during preclinical work, and with its cold storage and transport system, it provides equal cold effects to each area of the tissue obtained from the animal, thereby preventing trauma that could occur during transportation or external factors that could alter the analyses to be performed.
6-MAGNETIC ERECTER DEVICE
A magnetic erecter device applied in vitro without contact and without chemical content, increasing nitric oxide production from the endothelial layer, the innermost layer of the vascular structure in the applied area, through endothelial nitric oxide synthase, increasing tissue blood supply in the applied area, also providing the possibility of repeated use thanks to in vitro efficacy and portability, contributing to vasodilatation in the applied area with pulsed electromagnetic field (PMF), increasing the synthesis of tissue growth factors such as vascular endothelial growth factor, not causing painful stimuli, low cost, adjustable in power, frequency, and duration, and relating to a magnetic erecter device.
7-MAGNETIC CEREBROVASCULAR VASODILATATION DEVICE
The invention relates to a device that enables widespread vasodilatation in brain tissue through radiofrequency electromagnetic field (RF-EMA) and localized vasodilatation in the desired area through pulsed magnetic field (PMF), and spreads this combined effect behind the bone, with the device consisting of an applicator suitable to the skull structure (for interaction with the skull), a telescopic-featured body, a head containing the applicator suitable to the skull structure and connected to the mentioned body, and at least one control unit enabling control of the incoming electricity/electronic signal and adjustment of electromagnetic field and/or pulsed magnetic field application parameters.
8-CAROTID ARTERY VASODILATATION DEVICE
In cases such as stenosis of the carotid artery in the neck, in addition to drug treatment, a device that can be used both at home or in the emergency department, increasing nitric oxide production mediated by endothelial nitric oxide synthase in the intact endothelial layer of the carotid artery located on the inner surface of the neck, with selectable intermittent or continuous operation functions through adjustable power circuits allowing application for specific periods for each patient, not affecting the patient's peripheral blood vessels but only affecting the lesion area, can also be used in cases where potential nitrate use is contraindicated, preventing the reduction in blood supply to brain tissue that may occur secondary to narrowing of neck vessels, with the applicator neck portion having a flexible structure allowing it to be held in the application area for extended periods, containing a pulsed magnetic field (PMF), a carotid artery vasodilatation device is provided.
9-MAGNETIC IMPLANTER DEVICE
The invention relates to a magnetic implanter device that accelerates healing during the waiting period for titanium screw-shaped dental implants applied to the jawbone to fuse with the bone during the time when blood supply (nutrition) between the mother and fetus is insufficient, and speeds up the treatment process at the cellular level by increasing nitric oxide (NO) release through appropriate pulsed magnetic field (PMF) effects. The invention relates to preventing additional treatment costs in clinical studies through the pulsed magnetic field effect, preventing complications, and offering a painless treatment option through its easy applicability.
