# Simulated Patient Consultation on the Occasion of March 8 International Women's Day
As Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Medicine Medical Education and Informatics:
On the occasion of March 8 International Women's Day, as part of the society, by putting our responsibilities to the forefront, we wish to draw attention to the difficulties experienced by violence victims. In this context, we organized a simulation training focused on the professional roles and responsibilities that intern/trainee physicians will encounter in such situations in the context of access of violence victims to healthcare services and professional experience, the primary purpose of this educational activity is to create awareness and solidarity.
Simulations can help healthcare professionals develop empathy and effective communication skills. Makeup and prosthetic applications make these trainings more attention-grabbing, striking, and realistic. Our training provides participants and, through you, society with the opportunity to understand the difficulties faced by violence victims. This can increase awareness regarding women's rights and the healthcare system in general.
Within the Turkish health and legal system, the state plays an important role, and victims of violence are never alone. When the primary roles and responsibilities of physicians are considered, they are regulated by laws and international conventions, and we know that they have responsibilities to play an active role in matters of violence. In fact, in Term 5, our students receive these trainings in detail within their Forensic Medicine Internship and have the opportunity to practice through role-playing activities; however, we organized this training in order for them to encounter a more realistic version with a simulated patient and to reinforce their trainings, to enable intern physicians to play a more effective role in supporting victims of violence, and to emphasize that women in our society can communicate with our physicians as state representatives through family health centers found in every neighborhood.
It is important for our society to show sensitivity to the difficulties experienced by women and for professionals working in the healthcare sector to take steps to be more conscious about this matter. While simulation trainings stand out as one of these steps, they can contribute to laying the foundations of a more fair, equal, and supportive society.
With these wishes and hopes, we congratulate all our women on March 8 International Women's Day, and we extend our thanks to the University and Faculty administration who enabled us to create such initiatives, to the Department of Forensic Medicine that contributed to our training, to the intern physicians who participated in our training, to our simulated patients, and to the Akademixtv family who enabled us to create interaction with society.
