March 14 Physicians' Day Celebrated at Our Faculty

March 14 Physicians' Day was celebrated at our Faculty. Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Saltan attended our program as a guest. Our program was opened with a one-minute moment of silence for the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms and all healthcare professionals who have passed away, initiated by the presentation of Dr. Instructor Mukadder İnci Başer Kolcu from the Department of Medical Education and Informatics. During the program, Dr. Instructor Fuat İnce, Head of the Department of Medical History and Ethics, presented "The Beginnings of Modern Medical Education in Turkey," explaining how medical education developed in our country. Following his presentation, a short film about March 14 Physicians' Day highlighted the young medical students who made their mark during the War of Independence, and the story of Hikmet from the Medical School, who planted the Turkish flag between the two towers of the Medical School building guarded by armed enemy soldiers on March 14, 1919. Healthcare professionals and physicians, who have been important to our society, homeland, and nation in every period, were commemorated with gratitude. In his opening remarks at the ceremony, SDÜ Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Alim Koşar began by expressing his sorrow about the difficult times our country has gone through. After his speech emphasizing the importance of physicians and healthcare professionals in providing healthcare services, a ceremonial robing was held for faculty members who earned their professorship and associate professorship titles through academic promotion within the past year. Following the ceremony, an event was held in the foyer with the participation of faculty members.
