INFECTIOUS DISEASES AND CLINICAL MICROBILOGY

Our department was founded in 1993 by Prof.Dr. Guler Yaylı.  To date, it has contributed to the training of 20 specialist physicians.  In addition our department provides quality health services as well as the production of scientific studies. 

Currently 5 faculty members and 11 research assistants are working in our department.

LOCATION AND CAPACITY

We have a 17-bed service and one clinical micobiology laboratory on the 5th floor of Suleyman Demirel University Research and Pratice Hospital. Clinical microbiology laboratory is used for the  training of students and  research assistants.

We have two outpatient clinics on the 9th platform of  Suleyman Demirel University Research and Practice Hospital. 

Despite the predictions that infectious diseases will no longer be a public health problem with the  practical use of antibiotics in the early twentieth century, these diseases still continue to be one of the leading health problems all over the world. Diagnostic procedures, follow-up and treatment of diseases such as brucellosis, typoid fever, malaria, tetanus, anthrax, tuberculosis, rabies, tularemia which have been updated throughout history as well as those that have attracted the attention of the media by causing deadly consequences such as COVID-19, Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever, Ebola, SARS carried out in our field of expertise. Apart from these, diagnosis and treatment procedures of many infectious diseases are carried out by our department:

*Urinary tract infections

*Gastrointestinal tract infections

*Skin and soft tissue infections

*Prosthetic joint infections

*Central nervous system infections

*Cardiovascular system infections

*Fever of unknown origin

* HIV/AIDS

*Hospital infections
