History
     Süleyman Demirel University Department of Medical Pathology was established in 1995, and moved to its own laboratory in March 1998. Until today a total of 15 residents completed their 4 year education and got the degree of consultant on surgical pathology in our department. Today our department continues to study with an academic staff consisting of one professor, two associate professors and two assistant professors.

Localization and Capacity
     Laboratory of pathology locates in the 2nd floor of SDU School of Medicine  Research and Education Hospital outpatient building. An average of 16000 materials (Biopsies and cytological materials) per year is received for evaluation
 
 
Educational Process of Residents
     The education period of the residents is four years. Residents perform macroscopic sampling, preperation of the cases for microscopic evaluation, autopsy and frosen section during their residency. The histopathological and cytological evaluation of the cases is performed by teaching staff and resident with two or three headed training microscopes. There are seminar and literature reading hours on every tuesday and thursday, and tumor council on every wednesday. An academic staff is determined as educational consultant for the research assistant within the first 1-2 months.  Residents start scientific research projects for finishing thesis after the first two year of education under supervision of the assigned academic staff.
