HİSTORY


Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Medicine was established on 17.07.1993. Dr. Osman SULAK began as a research assistant in the Department of Anatomy on 24.09.1993. And then,  he was employmented of the Tübingen University¸ Faculty of Medicine, Institute of Anatomy to do a phD (Doctor of Philosophy) in Germany. Asst. Assoc. Dr. Ahmet SALBACAK began Institute of Anatomy as the first faculty member and Head of Department in 1994. M. Ali MALAS began working as a Asst. Assoc. Dr. in Institute of Anatomy, in 1995. Asst. Assoc. Dr. Ahmet SALBACAK became an associate professor, in 1995 and in 1996, he was appointed as Associate Professor in the Department. Dr. Osman SULAK completed his PhD and returned to the duty in 1997. He was appointed to the department as Asst. Assoc. Dr., in 1998. Asst. Assoc. Dr. Ahmet SALBACAK was separated from Institute of Anatomy and he was appointed to the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, in Selcuk University. The Department of Anatomy was moved to the building morphology in Faculty of Medicine at East campus, in 2002. The department was arranged as faculty member dissection lounge, model study lounge and student dissection lounge. Still Anatomy theoretical and practical applications are conducted in this building. Asst. Assoc. Dr. M. Ali Malas received the degree of Associate Professor in 2002. Asst. Assoc. Dr. S. Murat Tagil in 2003, Asst. Assoc. Dr. Esra Cetin in 2006 and Asst. Assoc. Dr. Soner Albay in 2007 were appointed the deparment as faculty member. Asst. Assoc.  Dr. S. Murat Tagil received the degree of Associate Professor in 2009 and the same year he left from our department by assigned to Fatih University Faculty of Medicine Department of Anatomy. Head of the Department of Anatomy Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Malas resigned in the department due to his appointment Katip Celebi  University Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in April 2011.In 2011, Asst. Assoc. Dr. Gülnur Özgüner was appointed faculty member of the department. Still, Head of Department is conducted by Prof. Dr. Osman Sulak.

            Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Health Sciences (Midwifery, Nursing, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Sport Sciences) and Health Services Vocational High school (Anesthesia, Emergency and First Aid, Elderly Care, Medical Imaging Techniques, Medical Laboratory Techniques and Physiotherapy) Anatomy course gives.

LOCATION AND CAPACITY


In there, a student dissection room with capacity of 100 people, a student model room with a capacity of 100 people, two cadaver dissection halls appurtenant to faculty members and a cadaver storage room available, appurtenant to Department of Anatomy. In our department, can be carried out of Immunohistochemical and microscopic anatomical studies is located one laboratory. In addition, because of studied the developmental anatomy of fetal cadavers, there is a storage room for fetal cadavers.

1. FACULTY OF MEDICINE COURSES:

Anatomy I: Period 1. in class, in Branch A, 64 hours of theoretical and 62 hours of practicals,  in Branch B, 64 hours of theoretical and 62 hours of practicals, total 252 hours course are provided. These courses are myology and artrology, osteology, terminology, introduction to anatomy.

Anatomy I: Period 2. in class, 130 hours of theoretical and 104 hours of practicals,  total 234 hours course are provided. These courses are Endocrine System and Sense Organs courses, Nervous System, Urogenital System, Gastrointestinal System, Respiratory System, Cardio-Vascular System, Myology.

2. FACULTY OF DENTİSTRY COURSES:


Class II Anatomy: in class 2 Dentistry, 93 hours of theoretical and 31 hours of practicals,  total 124 hours course are provided. These courses are Endocrine System and Sense Organs courses, Nervous System, Urogenital System, Gastrointestinal System, Respiratory System, Cardio-Vascular System, Myoloji.

 

Class III Head and Neck Anatomy, in class 3 Dentistry, 15 hours of theoretical in the spring semester topographic anatomy of the head and neck region is described.

3 - FACULTY OF HEALTH SCİENCES COURSES:


Department of Midwifery

Human Anatomy: 60 hours of theoretical and 28 hours of practicals,  total 88 hours course are provided.

 

Department of Nursing:

Human Anatomy: 60 hours of theoretical and 30 hours of practicals,  total 90 hours course are provided.

 

Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation:

 Anatomy I ve II: 118 hours of theoretical and 56 hours of practicals,  total 174 hours course are provided. These courses are Endocrine System and Sense Organs courses, Nervous System, Urogenital System, Gastrointestinal System, Respiratory System, Cardio-Vascular System, Myology.

Functional Neuroanatomy: In class II, in the fall semester, systemic functional neuroanatomy issues of 32 hours of theoretical give a lesson
