Neurology

Department of Neurology was established by Assist. Prof Galip Akhan in 1994. Our clinic provides a 13-bed service, a 6-bed intensive care unit, a 1-bed video-EEG monitoring unit, policlinics, electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG) laboratories with the expert staff especially academic members of Suleyman Demirel University School of Medicine Department of Neurology within the required services of modern medicine. . Currently, Our Department includes 3 professors, 2 associate professors, 1 doctoral faculty member and 11 research assistants.

Neurology policlinics and EEG-EMG Laboratory policlinic building are on the 6th platform, inpatient service, video-EEG monitoring and Neurology Intensive Care Building are on the 5th floor.

Department of Neurology provides one 4-channel EMG machine, three 24-channel digital EEG machines, one of which can shoot video and one portable 24-channel EEG machine. Within the Intensive Care Unit, there are 6 monitors and 5 mechanical ventilators for monitoring the patients’ vital indicators. Approximately 1200 patients are monitored in Neurology Clinic per year. 150 patients are monitored in Intensive Care Unit per year. Length of stay in the Clinic or Intensive Care Unit varies from 1 week to couple of months depending on the patient’s present complaint and condition.

16.500 patients are examined per year. Our policlinic provides service from 08:30 on the weekdays for the patients from Isparta and surrounding cities. After the diagnosis of patients, policlinic archive is organized by recording them digitally.

The education period of the research assistants is 5 years. In the first year the assistants serve in the service and in the intensive care unit of Neurology. In this period they are educated about patients follow up and turn up duties. At the end of this period they begin their general and specific polyclinics and clinical neurophysiology  education in our laboratories.
