Medical Pharmacology

History

Medical Pharmacology Department was founded by Ekrem Çiçek, Assistant Professor of Pharmacology in 1996-1997 academic year.  As of 2018, it has been restructured in order to support and carry out important studies in the field of pharmaceuticals and medical devices by examining similar department models that are good in their field in the world. There are currently 5 faculty members in our department.

Education

In our department, education is given in the processes of Specialization in Medicine, Master's and Doctorate. Graduate students accepted from different disciplines can start their thesis studies if they are successful in the scientific preparation courses in their curriculum.

Study Areas

Our department carries out extensive studies in the field of medicine and medical devices, within the framework of the interdisciplinary working model required by modern pharmaceutical R&D, with the diverse expertise of the faculty members in its own department, as well as with the participation of faculty members working in similar fields in other departments.

Faculty members have ongoing and completed works on toxicological studies, regenerative pharmacology, scaffolding applications containing extracellular matrix-like peptides, growth factors, synthesis of substances with biological activity, herbal medicinal products, directing targeted drugs, and evaluation of the efficacy and effects of various foods.

Our department is in the process of creating an infrastructure in order to support our companies in the good clinical practices of new or equivalent medical devices related to our research areas within the framework of clinical studies that have become mandatory under the European Union Medical Device Regulation (MDR).

Opportunities

Department of Medical Pharmacology has an Isolated Organ Bath which is located in the Department of Medical Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine. Department has also Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices and Dermocosmetic (IDAL) laboratories operating in the Innovative Technologies Application and Research Center. Our department can offer scholarships to students in YOK 100/2000 doctoral program and various projects with TÜBİTAK, EU and industry partnerships.
